Instructors history
In 1984 Paul and Chris Kelly began training at the Town of Newburgh Recreation Center under John Lupasello (Brown Belt).
Within a few months John's instructor, K.A. Lipsey, opened a fulltime studio on Rt. 52 in Newburgh. Paul and Chris were promoted
to the rank of 1st DAN Black Belt at the World Tae Kwon Do Association Headquarters in Manhattan in November of 1986. Two
months later Paul was given the school at the Newburgh Recreation Center and Kelly's Tae Kwon Do was founded. Six months later
the Lipsey school decided to leave The World Tae Kwon Do Association and Kelly's Tae Kwon Do followed. Over the course of
the next few years Kelly's Tae Kwon Do decided to stay with Traditional Tae Kwon Do and went on its own way until 1996. Having
earned the rank of 3rd DAN Black Belt outside WTA, Paul and Chris decided to strap on their 1st DAN belts and visit GrandMaster
Son. They were invited back into WTA and awarded their 2nd DAN in the fall of 1996, their 3rd DAN in the fall of 1997, their
4th DAN in the fall of 2000, their 5th DAN in the fall of 2005 and 6th Dan in the Spring of 2008. Paul and Chris still teach
at the Town of Newburgh Recreation Center having also taught in Wallkill, Hopewell Jnct, Pinebush, Mamakating Park and
Washingtonville. |
